Appliance repair in Hollywood

From courtyard apartments off the boulevards to houses tucked into the hills, home in Hollywood comes in every shape. When the fridge, washer or oven quits, we come to you, find the cause and tell you the price before anything gets fixed.

$20 service call through Oct 31 (then $95)

Say yes to the repair and your service call fee counts toward it in full.

Courtyards, bungalow courts and new mid-rises

Flatland Hollywood is mostly apartments. Spanish-style courtyard buildings from the 1920s and 1930s stand beside bungalow courts, where small cottages share a garden walk, and newer mid-rises have gone up near Hollywood, Sunset and Vine. A lot of people here rent, so the fridge and range in your kitchen probably came with the unit.

That changes who books the repair. If the appliance belongs to the building, the owner or manager usually decides who fixes it. Send them a quick text first. If they'd rather you set up the visit, we're happy to keep them in the loop.

Houses up in the hills

North of Franklin Avenue, the streets narrow and start to wind. Hillside homes often sit above or below the road, with the garage on one level and the kitchen on another, so a visit can begin with a flight of stairs. Some lanes barely fit one car, and a badly parked van can block a neighbor's garage.

Many of these streets are also posted for Red Flag parking. When the fire department declares a Red Flag day, parking on a signed street isn't allowed, so fire engines can get through. If your visit lands on one, we'll find a legal spot together, even if it means a longer walk.

Premieres, concerts and closed blocks

Hollywood Boulevard closes for film premieres and award nights, and summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl fill Highland Avenue and the streets around it. A closure two blocks away can change the best way in, so if you know of an event near you that day, add it to your request.

Bigger apartment buildings have their own routine: a gate code, a call box, a garage that opens only with a fob. One line about each in your notes means the technician spends the time on your appliance, not at the front door.

Warm kitchens, busy fridges

Hollywood sits a long way from the ocean breeze, and summer afternoons run hotter than at the beach. In an older top-floor apartment without central air, the kitchen can stay warm well into the night. A fridge in that room cycles longer to hold its temperature, so a weak spot like a dusty condenser or a tired fan tends to show up in July or August.

Appliance notes for Hollywood homes

Refrigerator repair

Older apartments often fit the fridge into an alcove sized for a smaller model. With no room to breathe at the back and top, it runs hot and loud, so start by giving it a few inches of clearance.

Washer repair

Shared laundry rooms in many courtyard buildings use machines leased from a laundry service company. If one of those stops working, report it to the manager; it isn't a repair you'd book yourself.

Dishwasher repair

A dishwasher squeezed into an old cabinet run isn't always fastened at the top. If the machine tips forward as the door comes down or rocks while you load it, mention it, because a loose unit strains its hoses.

Before we come over

  • Courtyard building? Send the unit number and tell us which gate opens onto your walk.
  • For a hillside home, say whether the kitchen is up or down from the street and roughly how many steps it takes.
  • A guest space, a driveway or room in your garage is worth mentioning; curbs near the boulevards fill up fast.

From request to repair.

  1. Tell us what's wrong

Pick the appliance and describe the problem in our short form. We get in touch to set up a time that works for you.

  2. We come to you

A technician visits your home and starts with a diagnosis, so the fix is based on the cause, not a guess.

  3. You get the price first

You learn what failed and what the repair costs before any work. Say yes to the repair and your service call fee counts toward it in full.

  4. Repair, once you say yes

With your go-ahead, we do the repair. When a part needs ordering, that can mean a second visit, and you'll know before we start.

Questions from Hollywood

Do you cover the Hollywood Hills too?

Yes. The hills above Franklin are part of our route. Tell us about tight turns, stairs and the nearest place a car can pull over.

I rent my apartment. Can I book the repair myself?

If the appliance is yours, of course. If it came with the apartment, check with the owner or manager first; some arrange repairs themselves, and others will ask you to book and pass along the details.

Was Hollywood ever a separate city?

Briefly. Hollywood incorporated in 1903 and merged into Los Angeles in 1910, largely for access to the city's water. It has been a Los Angeles neighborhood ever since.
