Canyons north of Sunset, flats to the south
North of Sunset Boulevard, Brentwood climbs into canyons such as Mandeville and Kenter, where single-family houses sit on winding roads and long driveways. South of Sunset, the ground flattens out. San Vicente Boulevard, with its coral trees down the median, is lined with condo and apartment buildings, and the 405 runs along the neighborhood's eastern side.
More than one fridge in the house
Larger homes here often have more refrigeration than one kitchen needs: a built-in main fridge, a beverage unit under the counter, sometimes a second fridge or freezer in the garage. Each has its own controls and its own model tag, so tell us which one is acting up.
A garage fridge has the hardest life of the bunch. Canyon garages can get hot in summer, and a fridge sitting in that heat runs longer and wears faster. If yours struggles through the warm months, give it room to breathe and keep its coils clean.
Under-counter beverage units have small fans and tight vents at the toe kick. If one stops cooling, check that nothing is blocking the grille at the bottom before anything else.
Remodeled kitchens, separate pieces
Brentwood kitchens have often been redone more than once, and many split cooking into separate pieces: a cooktop on the island, one or two wall ovens in the cabinets, sometimes a warming drawer. Because each piece runs on its own controls, trouble with one rarely means trouble with all. If the cooktop works and the oven doesn't, say so, and the cause narrows quickly.
Built-ins in a custom kitchen are also sized to their openings. Replacing one can mean new cabinet work, which is one more reason to find out what a repair costs first.
Gates, long driveways and condo garages
Getting to the kitchen depends on which Brentwood you live in. Up in the canyons, it can mean a gate, a call box and a driveway that's easy to miss. In the buildings along San Vicente, it's a garage entrance, guest parking and an elevator. Either way, a line in the booking notes saves time at the door. If a housekeeper or house manager will let the technician in, add their name and number.
Appliance notes for Brentwood homes
Refrigerator repair
A second fridge in a warm garage works harder than the one indoors. Clean coils and some breathing room on every side help it keep up through summer.
Cooktop repair
A separate cooktop and wall oven have separate controls. If one works and the other doesn't, tell us which, since that narrows the cause right away.
Oven & range repair
A wall oven that shows a temperature error or loses heat mid-bake often points to a sensor or an element. Note the code before you switch the oven off.
Before we come over
- Put the gate code or the name on the call box in the booking notes.
- In a condo building, tell us which garage entrance and guest spaces to use.
- If someone else will let us in, add their name and phone number.

Questions from Brentwood
Do you come to the canyon streets north of Sunset?
Yes. Add notes about the driveway, any gate, and where a car can stop safely on a narrow road.
We have three fridges. How do we tell you which one needs help?
Say where it is, such as the kitchen, the bar or the garage, and send a photo of its model tag. If more than one needs attention, mention all of them when you book.
